A very fine early 19th century gilded French classical design mantel clock, newly serviced in excellent working order. The case features a beautiful winged cherub holding a bow, standing next to a lion. The front of the case features a gilt plaque with the inscription ‘Qui pourrait me resister’ or 'Who could resist me'. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Marchand à Paris. The 8-day movement having a silk suspension and striking the hours and ½ hours on a bell. Professionally serviced and complete with a full years movement guarantee. French circa 1810.
